Rick won the A.E. Hotchner Playwriting Festival for his play Had Momma Left a Lullaby... Its premier featured members of the St. Louis Black Repertory and Washington University School of Drama. Two more of his plays, Lilies and Latches and Resurrection Day were produced by the Brooklyn Arts Council at their off-Broadway BACA Downtown Theater. Lullaby was later revived at Chartre Theater in Washington, DC. |

Along with plays, short stories, poems, and children's books, Rick has written and published numerous songs in a wide range of genres. He has also co-written songs with well-known songwriters, including Jared Lightfoot of Wicked Brew, Jim Greene of The Delegates, and Darin Ellsworth of Vervain. Hog Branch songs are currently being performed and have been recorded by these and other artists.
